Joint splinter meeting "Astrospheres around massive stars"

with the Arbeitsgemeinschaft extraterrestrische Forschung
on 2015 Annual Meeting of the Astronomische Gesellschaft
at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU)
from 14 to 18 September 2015

Organisers:: D. Bomans, K. Scherer

Observations and simulations of astrospheres around hot stars have recently become in the focus of scientific research. We intend to discuss together the latest observations and model efforts.

Runaway O and B stars are common and part of a sizable population in the galaxy and a significant number of those shows a bow-shock structure. Observations shall be presented and applicable conservative fluid models as well as general shock structure shall be discussed. Some crucial features, which are relevant for observations shall be pointed out.

Because a lot of modeling effort is done in the heliosphere (as well as in situ observations) the splinter meeting is in cooperation with the AEF/EP.
